  • 1 roast beef chuck or round roast beef chuck or round works well
  • 4 tablespoons dry mustard
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine or margarine
  • to taste garlic minced
  • 1 onion onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • to taste garlic powder for gravy
  • to taste Worcestershire sauce for gravy
  • to taste Bisto gravy thickener for gravy

Method
 

  1. Create a paste with dry mustard, butter, and minced garlic; spread all over the roast.
  2. Chop an onion and scatter in the crock pot; place the coated roast on top and sprinkle with white sugar.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours until fork-tender.
  4. Drain drippings into a saucepan, add garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and Bisto; boil and stir until thickened. Pour gravy over sliced roast.

Notes

Use honey or maple syrup as a healthier substitute for white sugar.
