  • 3/4 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion chopped
  • 1 can chopped stewed tomatoes 15 ounce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 can pinto beans 15 ounce, drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method
 

  1. In a large saucepan, cook the ground beef, minced garlic, and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned, about 10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the stewed tomatoes with juice, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  3. Stir in the drained pinto beans and salt. Simmer for an additional 15 minutes.
  4. For best flavor, refrigerate the chili overnight and reheat gently before serving.
