Hearty Hamburger Soup

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground hamburger
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 3-4 cup potatoes diced
  • 1 stalk celery chopped
  • 3-4 cup carrots chopped
  • 1/2 head cabbage shredded
  • 46 ounce tomato juice
  • 1 ounce onion soup mix
  • to taste salt and pepper

Method
 

  1. Brown 1 pound of hamburger and 1 chopped onion in a large soup pot over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add 3-4 diced potatoes, 1 chopped celery stalk, 3-4 chopped carrots, and 1/2 head shredded cabbage to the pot. Cook for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Pour in 46-ounce can of tomato juice and sprinkle in 1-ounce package of onion soup mix. Stir well.
  4. Simmer gently for about an hour, uncovered, until vegetables are tender and flavors meld.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste just before serving.
