  • 1 package pasta
  • 1 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 1 cup mushrooms diced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 can tomato sauce (6-ounce)
  • 1 can tomatoes and green chilies (15-ounce)
  • to taste salt and pepper

  • Large skillet
  • Pasta pot
  • Colander
  • Wooden spoon

Method
 

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add diced onion and mushrooms, sauté for about 5 minutes until tender and aromatic.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce and tomatoes with green chilies. Simmer for a few minutes to allow flavors to blend. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Add cooked pasta to the skillet and gently fold until everything is well combined and heated through.
