Method
- Trim the beef into thin slices about 1/2 inch thick. If using tri tip or flank steak, slice against the grain.
- In a large ziplock bag, combine green onions, soy sauce, water, sesame oil, brown sugar, sesame seeds, garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, and Szechwan pepper. Seal and massage until thoroughly mixed.
- Add beef slices to the bag, reseal, and massage until coated. Refrigerate for 4-6 hours, turning occasionally.
- Remove beef from marinade, reserving the marinade. Grill, broil, or pan-fry the beef for 3-6 minutes per side, brushing with additional marinade when flipping.
Notes
For maximum tenderness, slice the beef as thinly as possible against the grain and marinate for at least 4 hours.
