Easy Asian-Inspired Turkey Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground turkey or ground beef your preference
  • 1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot chili oil
  • 1 teaspoon light soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/2 package stir fry seasoning about 3/4 ounce
  • 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 1 bunch green onions chopped
  • 1/2 bag coleslaw mix about 8 ounces
  • 1 head iceberg lettuce leaves carefully separated

Method
 

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground turkey or beef.
  2. While the meat cooks, drizzle in sesame oil and hot chili oil to infuse Asian flavors.
  3. Add light soy sauce, black pepper, minced garlic, stir fry seasoning, and teriyaki sauce.
  4. When the meat is halfway browned, add chopped green onions and coleslaw mix.
  5. Continue cooking until meat is completely browned and cabbage is softened slightly but still crunchy.
  6. Meanwhile, wash the iceberg lettuce and carefully separate the leaves, keeping them whole.
  7. Scoop a generous portion of the hot filling into the center of each cold lettuce leaf.
  8. Fold the sides of the lettuce over the filling, wrap into a bundle, and serve.

Notes

Use fresh, intact lettuce leaves for easy wrapping and adjust chili oil to taste for desired spice level.
